Hiring through a Global Programs (GP) Office |
- GP offices are registered NGOs, wholly owned and operated by UCSF, in the countries where they operate and are set up to ensure compliance with local laws.

- GP offices are managed and administered by local experts, which builds capacity within the country.
- Like subaward partners, they utilize local expertise in management, administration, and programmatic activities
|
- GP offices may support direct UCSF employees.
- In limited cases, current UCSF employees may work through a GP office without losing their status as a UCSF employee.

- GP staff report to, and are directly managed, by their designated manager at UCSF.
|
- Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda, with limited ability to hire in Laos, Mozambique, and South Africa

Hiring through a UC Affiliate Office |
- UC Affiliate offices are registered entities in the countries where they operate.
|
- UC Affiliate offices may be managed by local nationals or UC expatriates.
- The UC office may not have specific activities in Global Health.

- UC affiliates may be able to hire current UC employees without a change to their benefits, depending on registration status.
|
- Employees are directly managed by their designated manager at UCSF.

Hiring through a Professional Employment Organization (PEO) |
- PEOs generally work through their own offices or through a partner office to properly register to do business in the country where they operate.

- PEOs may not have a local office and may not specifically support global health initiatives.
- The recruitment process is the primary activity supporting the decolonization of global health.

- Individuals are considered employees of the PEO firm.
- Local benefits are provided in line with local legal requirements.

- Employees are directly managed by their designated manager at UCSF.

- Initial set up fee of up to US $5000/person AND a service fee of up to 20% per month

Hiring as an Independent Contractor (through UCSF SCM) |
- Compliance with Local Law is reviewed by IRSO and SCM.

- Fees are paid on a deliverables basis.
